1. Yue munjun- artist
- Contemporary artist, Yue munjun's famous artworks are the exaggerated smiling faces. I like his artworks because of feeling that the artist created for the frozen laughters. The more we look at the smiling faces, the more frozen form it will appear.This eye catching technique is very helpful in my sculpture project by concentrating more details on face.
2. American Horror Story (Freak Show, season 4)
- The american tv show, AHS, inspires me a lot because the style of the characters are very unique and weird (which is attractive). The mood of the scenes are very intense. yet scary, but the hook of every character's expression in the criminal stories is still very interesting. One of the biggest inspiration from AHS season 4 is the makeup and costumes of the characters such as the two heads body and the creepy clown. Also, AHS contains various historical background in every serie which is very helpful in creating the horror mood.
3. Graffiti
The art style of graffiti can inspire my sculpture a lot because even though graffiti is created by harsh lines, the powerfulness inside it can create soft feeling. One of the most essential reasons that makes graffiti powerful is the radiant colors that are arranged creatively. On the other hand, graffiti can even create humans' bodies with different perspectives. Because graffitis are always finished on walls, so the material can stay in a long period which is very commemorative for different places.
4. Ukyio-e
- The Japanese art style, Ukiyo-e, inspired me a lot in my sculpture because the Japanese characters in Ukiyo-e art works show a very smooth and floating line of their bodies. The faces of the characters are very unique and have a oriental structure which also helps to deliver the smoothness Moreover, in the Ukiyo-e landscape art, because of the usages of colors, the sense of the whole view is very relaxing even though the techniques seem very complicated.
5.sushi
- The renowned Japanese food, sushi, influenced me a lot because the way that sushi is rolled with different layers gives each type of sushi its own characteristic. Various toppings can represent different style of sushi and the leaves that wrap the sushi can provide the background about sushi. I would combine the layering element into my sculpture by using mushrooms instead on the toppings that lie on top on the rice.
6.halloween
The most influential thing that halloween has on my sculpture is the feeling of mysterious on halloween night. One of the most crucial elements that people are scared about is the guises and the decorations such as pumpkins, ghost costumes, etc. I would apply the halloween ornaments to my sculpture's base so that my sculpture can seemed more alive. Moreover, the weirdness of halloween costumes can also provide a characteristic on my sculpture because even my sculpture's pose is really simple, the feeling of the whole piece is not as common.
7. super mushroom - super mario
- The character, Super Mushroom, is one of my original inspirations because i think the mushroom head mainly symbolizes this character. The bright color and the exagerated size of the mushroom provide the cuteness and funniness to audiences which is very tempting. I think by adding an character on my own sculpture can create another brand new figure. And I would like to add the mushroom as a small while delicated element on my figure's back. I think it can bring an alive feeling to the sculpture. Not only the mushroom itself is very cute, as a decoration, it can be a very good highlight on my base as well.
Two Eggs And A Box
FINAL
Explanation: The last few creatures with tiny antlers are escaping from human's wild hunting on land. By entering the magical box that is floating on the sea, they reach another distinct world in the ocean which is full of advanced technology. This artwork demonstrates the reaction of these unique creatures reaching this new world for the very first time, such as confusion, excitement, and relief.
